I listened to an excellent interview with the late, great Leonard Cohen recently. He was speaking about his time in a Zen monastery when he mentioned the following maxim…
“Like pebbles in a bag, the monks polish each other.”
Magic begins as a craft. To become proficient in any craft, you need to spend time immersed in it. Fortunately, we live in a time when immersion is not a problem. Access to the craft can be found everywhere via books, lectures, videos, social media, skype, conventions, clubs, and forums.
The path is literally filled with pebbles.
Make no mistake, in every aspect of your life - you are being polished.
You have no choice.
The only choice you have is which pebbles you are place in your bag.
Be thoughtful in the choosing. It’s hard to reattach stone once it’s been rubbed away.
